3-Minute Self-Assessment:
"Is Social Media For Me?"

Take this 3 minute self-assesment and you'll get "reality check" answers to your most important questions about social media:
  1. What if I only have an hour per week to devote to social media?
  2. Will my existing customers and marketing integrate with social media?
  3. What's the high-impact strategy?  Facebook?  Twitter?  Something else?

The purpose and value of this exercise is to make you think about what's important in social media, assess your skill set, and decide whether you want to tap into this marketing avenue for your business.

You can zip through the questions in 3 minutes because you do not type anything, you just think your answers.  Of course if you don't like to think, you can push the button and go straight to the answers ... but in my experience, the people who win in business are the ones who like to think!

When you're done click "Submit" for my thoughts about what your answers mean for you.

6.  Do you have an existing, offline database of contacts?  This might be your email contacts list, a customer list in QuickBooks, a marketing database in Act?

7.  Are you clear about a.) Who your target is; b.) What action you'd like them (or your whole network) to take to become your customer?  Do you have a mechanism in place for them to do that?

8.  How comfortable are you with video?  Do you know how to take a video?  Edit it?  Upload it to YouTube, Facebook?  Do you use a private hosting company like Screencast or Amazon S3?

9.  Do you have a blog?  How often do you (or your assistant) post to it?  How much effort have you put into proper SEO of your blog?  Do you know how many visitors or comments you get?

10.  Do you have any other websites?  How much traffic do they get?  Do you know where it comes from?

11.  Do you have a squeeze page?  Do you have an info product you give away?  How about one you sell? What do you do to drive traffic to your squeeze page(s) or sales letter(s)?  How big is your opt-in list? How about your online purchaser list?

12.  Do you do marketing with articles you've written?  How about videos?
